Luitpoldhain

July 26 & August 8, 2026

The Nuremberg State Philharmonic opens the concert series on Sunday, July 26 with two performances: a family concert at 11 a.m. and an evening concert at 8 p.m., both under the motto "Family and Friends". The concerts will be conducted by Roland Böer, General Music Director of the Nuremberg State Theatre. The evening concert is dedicated entirely to personal connections, featuring works composed for loved ones, companions, patrons, and even animal friends. The soloist will be internationally acclaimed pianist Lukáš Vondráček.

Under the title “Rhythm of the World,” the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra presents a vibrant summer evening concert in Luitpoldhain on Saturday, August 8 at 8 p.m. Led by Chief Conductor Jonathan Darlington, the orchestra performs a program filled with pulsating rhythms, shaped by American swing, energetic symphonic storytelling, and the elegance of the Viennese tradition. The concert includes works by Gershwin, Strauss, and Oscher, among others. The evening’s soloist is the outstanding Venezuelan trumpeter Pacho Flores.

Old Town

July 31 – August 2, 2026

In the summer of 2026, Nuremberg celebrates a double anniversary: the 50th edition of Bardentreffen and the 450th anniversary of the death of the Nuremberg Meistersinger Hans Sachs, in whose honor the festival was founded in 1976.

From Thursday, July 30, to Sunday, August 2, 2026 — beginning one day earlier than usual — the spotlight turns to today’s international singer-songwriters and musical storytellers. The program ranges widely, from global pop and folk to musical cabaret. On the festival’s opening day, participatory singing takes center stage in the city of the Meistersingers, featuring a sing-along flash mob, a special concert by the Hans Sachs Choir, and live crowd singing events.

Each year, more than 200,000 visitors flock to the picturesque squares and historic courtyards of Nuremberg’s Old Town. With around 90 concerts across eight stages, the world music festival offers a richly varied program — complemented by hundreds of street musicians who fill the entire city with sound.

For his 50th anniversary on stage, Wolfgang Haffner will be joined by a lineup of top-tier guests on August 9. Galeria Kaufhof Building

September 21, 2024 – May 2025

Through contemporary art and culture, Zukunftsmusik breathed new life into the city center around the vacant former Kaufhof building — and into the building itself. The multiple program modules, initiated and curated by the Projektbüro Kultur, were designed to signal change.

From September 2024 to May 2025, the former Kaufhof was transformed into an open space for creativity, democracy, and urban development. Through exhibitions, media art, dance, film, readings, and participatory activities, the diverse program offered the public opportunities to engage, exchange ideas, and discover new perspectives. Numerous artists and initiatives from Nuremberg contributed, making the project a unique cultural experience for the city.
