Galeria Kaufhof building

Opening: 21. & 22. September 2024

"Zukunftsmusik" brings contemporary art and culture to the downtown area around the vacant former Kaufhof building, infusing it with new life. The new large-scale program, initiated and curated by the Projektbüro Kultur, consists of several modules in public spaces and sets the stage for change. Throughout the summer, objects will appear over several months, and invitations for participation will be extended. Together with actors from the fields of art and music, architecture and urban planning, business and science, politics and the urban community, small and large events will be staged, encouraging bold and collaborative efforts in shaping the future. While the property remains closed during the insolvency proceedings, an initial support tower designed by the internationally renowned collective raumlaborberlin will bring new developments to the outdoor space, interrupting familiar pathways and offering fresh perspectives.

"Zukunftsmusik" is supported by the Free State of Bavaria as part of the Bavarian Urban Development Program.
